Screen Printers

We get a lot of questions about how screen printers get our clients images from paper design stage, to ink on garment stage. The process is quite simple, but it does take some specialist equipment, and a little practice and skill to get right!

The first thing screen printers need to do, in order to put your image onto a garment, is to make sure they have the right equipment. That means a screen, tightly covered with mesh, a squeegee, a variety of inks, and a fill bar. We use high tech equipment, that offers predictable, precision results, but there are ways to make your own screen for home printing (although the results probably won’t be as uniform!)

Screen printers will place their ink in a reservoir at the top of the screen, move the flood bar over the screen to apply ink, and then use the squeegee to apply the ink coated mesh to the fabric. Each colour is printed separately, and the screen and other equipment have to be cleaned thoroughly between prints to ensure that the next time they’re used; they provide the same level of print quality.

The process itself takes a little time to master, and it’s the technique, the preparation, the equipment and the materials used that sets great screen printers apart from their counterparts. That’s why so many of our clients choose us over other screen printers. We use only the best garments, equipment and materials, and our staff are well trained and experienced. That means that we offer guaranteed results – every time.
